AIEEE,2012 with a Number of Techical Glitches.
AIEEE for the first time introduced Online examinations for admission into various NITs, IIITs and all the engineering colleges affiliated to it, but with every novice some mistakes are unavoidable, same was the case with them. While some of the students registered no complaint whatsoever in the conduct of the ONLINE mode of AIEEE while there were others who had a lot of complaints like the system hanging half a dozen times and then being asked to change the computer atleast 3 to 4 times during the 3 hour window.
“The process was automatic and the timer kept running even when we were unable to attempt the test due to slow computer and were asked to relocate thus a lot of our precious time got wasted in shifting but we were unable to claim that time back.” Said one student after the exam.
Many others complained that AIEEE was complacent about getting the machines tested beforehand which is why so many students had to face this problem. Atleast they should have ensured that there is a standard to abide by for all the computer laboratories conducting the test.
Another student reported that in his test, the computer server was logging out his account time and again and he had to relogin so many times to finally be able to complete and submit his test.
Some of the students were also asked to avoid using keyboard since the keyboard functionality had some issue related to the online exam and some keys were working faulty so devoiding students of the basic input interface.
Some centres did NOT even have the partition between the adjacent systems which was distracting.
A good thing (or a bad one) was that Questions were NOT much changed from the previous date i.e. the questions in the 29th April offline exams were nearly the same as the questions appearing in the online examination, ofcourse with the order re arranged! Chemistry was declared to be a little difficult.
Although the Bio Metric system was working perfectly fine to ensure that no impersonation is possible, but this took around 30-45 minutes of the total time so students were asked to reach the centre by 8:30 A.m.
Next test is scheduled to be on 17th May and followed by 26th May,2012.
We hope the shortcomings in 12thApril would be overcome this time.
