Introduction to the GUJCET
Gujarat Common Entrance Test, commonly known, as the GUJCET, is the qualifying examination conducted by the Education Department of Gujarat Government for students who wish to seek admission in Engineering, Medical and Pharmacy degree programs in Gujarat.
Eligibility Criteria for GUJCET
The following is the eligibility criteria for GUJCET
- Students who wish to appear in GUJCET must belong to the state of Gujarat
- The student must have passed 12th standard or any other equivalent examination that is recognized by the Government
- Students who wish to apply for engineering must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in their 12th standard.
- Students who have studied their 12th standard in State Board, CBSE and by the Council for the Indian School Certificate are eligible for this examination.
- Students whose parents are in defense services or in military are also eligible to appear for the examinations
GUJCET Application
Students who wish to appear for this examination can purchase the application form from any Nationalized bank in the following locations in Gujarat –
- Ahmedabad
- Banaskantha
- Gandhinagar
- Mehsana
- Patan
- Sabarkantha
- Surat
- Vadodara
Student will need to take a DD in favor of Secretary, Gujarat Common Entrance Test Cell and the DD must be payable at Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar.
The application form will also have a brochure attached with it, which will give detailed instructions as to how to fill in the application form. Please go through the brochure carefully and fill it in without any mistakes. The filled in application form needs to be sent to the following address –

There are also many other centers that collect the filled in application form. The latest information related to this will be given in the brochure that comes with the application form.
GUJCET Exam Pattern
- The GUJCET examinations are held in three mediums — Gujarati, Hindi and English.
- The examination pattern for the science students will be the following –
- Physics — 40 Questions
- Chemistry — 40 Questions
- Mathematics — 40 Questions
- Biology — 40 Questions
- Each question will carry one mark each and each section will be for duration of one hour.
- The exam syllabus will be based on the 12th standard curriculum of State and CBSE board.
GUJCET Preparation
Detailed syllabus for the GUJCET examinations will be available in the information brochure. There are also many online sites that conduct mock tests and offer sample question papers with which, the students can prepare for the examination.
Many students recommend studying NCERT books for this examination. However there are also many books available in the market to prepare for GUJCET.

GUJCET Results and Grading System
The GUJCET results will be declared in the first or second week of May. The results will be posted in the official website of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board – http://www.gseb.org
The GUJCET has introduced a new grading system in 2011 to represent the marks scored by the students –
