The Orissa joint entrance examination (OJEE) qualifiers can register themselves online from July 3 to take part in the ORISSA JEE 2011 web-based counseling for admission into various professional courses. Registration will continue for around 10 days and the last date will be notified shortly, OJEE vice-chairman Sitaram Mahapatra said on Wednesday.
Students need to fill in details like roll number, application number, date of birth and 16 digit bar code number in the OJEE 2011 website (www.odishajee.com) and generate their password during the registration process, he said, adding the date of start of counselling will be announced later.
During these 10 days, OJEE will conduct mock counselling of the registered candidates wherein students can do trial and error by filling in various college and course options. This will give them a fair idea about the seat matrix and their probable chances in colleges and courses, Mahapatra said.
After the registration process is over, students will be required to visit any of the 18 nodal centres for verification of their documents and lock their choices. “Students have to deposit Rs 450 registration fee, lock in their choice and take a print out of the same duly signed by them and the authorities in the nodal centres,” Mahapatra said. They don’t have to submit any document in original and only have to give photocopies at the nodal centres, he said.
After verification, there will be provisional allotment of seats. Dates for such allotment will be made by the OJEE. Students have to deposit Rs 16,000 for government colleges and Rs 30,000 for private colleges towards admission fee at the nodal centres, which are non-refundable. Within seven days of provisional allotment, students will be given final allotment and sent to the allotted college for admission. “If a student is happy with the allotted seat, he can exit the counselling process. Otherwise, one can remain in the counseling process for future automatic upgradation to a college or course of choice even after taking admission in one college,” Mahapatra said.
He said verification would take around 20 days while admission would take another 15 days. Physically handicapped students need to appear before a medical board in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack between July 1 and July 9. They can find a schedule of their exact date in the JEE website and attend the board on the exact date and time specified, Mahapatra said.
Around 54,000 students have qualified the OJEE this year for admission into the various courses. The counselling will select students for admission into around 40,000 engineering seats, 650 MBBS seats, 960 B Pharma seats, around 5,000 MBA seats, 3,500 MCA seats and over 200 B Arch seats.
